Merry Yule . . .

It’s 11:36 pm est . . . less than an hour to go before I add my decorated Yule Log to my fire.  While time generally seems to speed by, tonight . . . it has seems like 12:30 am will never get here.

This year, the Yule Tide Season begins in the hour of Mars, at least for me in my time zone.  While the new solar year begins in just minutes, we are still under a waning moon. I figure it’s a good time for reflection into my hopes and dreams for the coming year and asking for help in releasing all that prevents me from fulfilling those dreams. The new moon will arrive Christmas eve . . . then I can start to refocus my energy toward a more direct and positive approach to my celebration.

Throughout the year I’ve saved  a variety of things to offer tonight.  Dried marigolds from my garden’s first year. Even though its been 2 years, they have kept their color beautifully.  I had originally strung them together and hung them over my front door as a protective amulet. After they withered, I took them down and they were still so lovely I tucked them away to use as a special offering. I can think of no better time as now. I didn’t tend my garden as well as I would have liked last year, so I’m offering it now with hopes of doing much better in the coming year.

I have a large jar of a variety of dried flowers, either from my garden or from friends as gifts.  Hopefully, the new year will bring more lovely flowers and many new friends.

Some items, unused for one reason or another while making my garlands, are there too.  Though unusable, they are still beautiful . . . and full of magic. May their offering bring me and my family health, wealth, good luck and much happiness in the coming year.

May the additional items I’ve chosen also bring this same blessing to every person on earth.

I’ve saved special items collected from special places. I have oak branches, pine cones and other twigs I collected on my trip home to see my parents. Hopefully, this offering will bring good health and prosperity to them this year.  I’m hoping to visit them soon.

12:09 am. 21 more minutes. Just brought out the Yule Log . . . hopefully, I’ll be able to get a usable video to post here. I little bubble of excitement has welled up . . . going for my cocoa.

1:09 am . . . was amazed at how fast and bright the Yule Log lit. Burned very hot. I made it using the leftover wax from all the white candles I’d burned during last years new and full moon celebrations. I mixed in some of the pine needles from last year’s tree and other herbs and seeds. Also used dried moss.   I spread this mixture over the top of the rather large piece of hardwood, I believe it’s oak. The wax really burned . . . but the moss and other herbs haven’t burned completely off . . . that is surprising. The fire is dying down a bit . . . which is good. I can re-light it again tomorrow night, or if it just smolders down a bit, it’s possible it could still be ready to kindle tomorrow morning. Added some bits of oak and last year’s holly to the fire. Would love to stay up til dawn, but I’m not sure I’m going to make it. I’d like to deliver some gifts to some friends tomorrow, so I may have to get some sleep.

Going to close for now.

Happy Yule Everyone!

Blessings to you all  a healthy and bountiful New Year.

Judy
